27April 2010 in Butterfly Ultramarine cinema took place a launching press conference of the Second Kiev International Film Festival
The press conference participants were:
Bogdan Stupka - Ukrainian National Artist, KIFF President;
Fedor Krat – KIFF General producer;
Irina Hordeychuk - KIFF Selection Committee Chairman;

Speakers told about the structure of KIFF 2010, its mission and plans as well as differences between the Second Film Festival and KIFF-2009. Film Forum program was discussed as well. While competitive program movies are still being preselected, non-competition program is almost fully approved. And in this case the festival  certainly has something to boast.
No doubt, Rob Marshal’s musical “Nine” is going to become the highlight of the non-competition program. In addition to a band of Hollywood divas (Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Kate Hudson, Judi Dench, Sophie Loren) accompanied by the Oscar owner Daniel Day-Lewis, the film boasts a number of awards and nominations gained on the major world film festivals. No less excitement will cause Oscar, Golden Globe and Sundance winner - Lee Daniels’s drama "Precious”.
France will be represented by the Tsai Ming-Liangs film “Visage”, the prizewinner of the Venice, Cannes and Berlin film festivals and last known work of the screenwriter and director Claire Denis, who headed the jury of the “Custom view” competition on Cannes Film Festival. Movie, in which the main parts are played by Isabelle Huppert and Christopher Lambert, is called "White material".
Another great expectation is the Golden Lion winner – Samuel Maoz’s movie “Lebanon” and the German-French-Austrian collaboration -  “Lourdes” movie, which brought together a number of awards, including the Venice Film Festival’s FIPRESSI.
Furthermore, Kiev viewers have a unique opportunity to meet a wonderful documentary films, including the story of the industry of children in the globalization era "Google Child " and Oscar winner (The Best Documentary) - Louie Psihoyos’ "The Cove", which tells about hunting for dolphins.
After the press conference Fedor Krat thanked partners and sponsors of the KIFF. Head of the Corporate Relations of the festival General sponsor (Nemiroff), Taras Ermakov added: "Nemiroff traditionally provides its support to the brightest and most significant events on national and international levels. Ukrainian film industry is one of the major socially oriented directions. We strive to create a solid foundation for the development of national cinema as a cultural heritage of the nation and hope that together we can raise the Ukrainian cinema to a higher level. To that end, we support KIFF today and look forward to successful cooperation in future".
