The President of the Kiev Film Festival, head and official representative of film festival is People’s Artist of the Ukraine Mr. Bohdan Stupka.
The main coordinator of Organizing Committee and executive department is the Management of the Festival.
The Management of the Festival examines all films declared for participating in the Festival, completes the competitive program, and prepares publicity-informative materials for the festival catalogue.
The Staff of the Organizing Committee is formed from the representatives and founders of the Festival and confirmed in accordance with the established procedure.
The decisions of the Organizing Committee are obligatory for the executive departments.
The Producer center «Art-Pro», the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Ukraine with the sponsors of the Festival draw up a budget of the Festival. The forms and sizes of their advertising companies on the Festival are defined by agreements.


Goals of the Festival

  • development and popularization of the Ukrainian culture;
  • attracting attention and interest to the cinematography;
  • popularization of creative achievements, development of creative contacts and exchange of experience and ideas between the film-makers of the Ukraine and the foreign countries;
  • acquaintance of the audience with the talented works of masters of the Ukrainian and world cinema;
  • providing support to the creative youth in the sphere of cinematography, development of the productive relationship between the film-makers of the Ukraine and the foreign countries.


Order of holding

The festival is held annually.
The venue of the festival is Kiev
The time of the festival is the end of May – the beginning of June.


Program of Festival

The film program of the Festival includes:

  • competitive screening;
  • panorama of the best films which were presented and rewarded at other festivals in the competitions of feature full-length films;
  • out-of-competition screenings;
  • press-conferences and «round tables» on modern cine process;
  • creative meetings with the authors of the festival films;
  • days of the cinema of the countries-participants of the Festival;
  • master-classes for the young film-makers and creative young people with the masters of the modern cinema.
The program and order of demonstration of the films determined by the Management of the Festival.


Competition

The feature and documentary films created for two last years including the year of the current festival can take part in the competitive program.
The feature films have to be available to the festival as a cinema-compatible copy in the 35mm format or DVD.
The decision about the number of the participating competitive films is made by the Organizing Committee of the Festival.


Terms of participation

Participation of film studios, television companies
The film studios, television companies, independent producers and any owners of copyrights of presented films can participate in the Festival.
Persons interested in participation in the Festival must officially declare about it to the Organizing Committee a month before the Festival.
Simultaneously with a message about participation the following documents must be sent:

  • film-entry in two copies;
  • advertising and press materials;
  • materials for the catalogue (portrait-photo of the director(s), short biography of the director(s), filmography, synopsis, screen-shots (the photos in an electronic version – min. 300 dpi).
The Management of the Festival will pay the accommodation costs (food and lodging) for two persons: for the director and an actor (actress) presented the competitive film. The terms of being at the Festival are 3-4 days (screening of the film and the following press-conference).
The film companies, Embassies or Diplomatic representations realize the delivery of film copies to Kiev.


Financing

Festival financing is carried out by his founders on share basis with the possible raising funds of sponsors.


Jury

The International Jury of filmmakers is formed from a number of the most authoritative masters of domestic and foreign cinema.


Prizes

  • for Best feature film;
  • for Best Director;    
  • for Best Director of photography;
  • for Best Script;               
  • for Best Musical Score;
  • for Best Actor;
  • for Best Actress;
  • for Best Supporting Actor;
  • for Best Supporting Actress.


Sending an Entry Form the applicant agrees to the regulations of the Kiev Film Festival
